1. The buyer issues a documentary letter of credit after receiving the agreed Laycan. Let me explain why. A documentary letter of credit from the seller's bank can be sent to the buyer's bank in 7 days or more. Laycan is agreed upon and approved within 14-15 days before loading the goods. Once the seller (or his freight broker) has sent the confirmed Laycan to the buyer, the buyer begins the process of issuing a letter of credit to the seller's bank on the same day. This is done so that at the time of loading the LNG onto the ship, the letter of credit is already in the seller’s bank.
